Brothers,

We are calling on all Brothers of Monaken Lodge to assist with the upcoming Conclave at Seven Mountains Scout Camp June 11-13, 2010.

Over the coming months, we will be filling the Conference vice Chiefs of Administration, Facilities, Program, and Hospitality.

More information and the specifics on the available staff positions will be announced at the Fall Ordeal on August 15, 2009 in the Dining Hall at Seven Mountains Scout Camp.

committee descriptions

 

Hospitality – Responsible for overseeing the Campsite Mayor and Commissary Committees. The Hospitality CVC is responsible for making sure that all visitors to Seven Mountains are having a good time.

Campsite Mayor – This committee will find Lodge Brothers to serve as “mayors” for campsites. The mayors are responsible for showing guests around camp, getting anything the guests need, and are one of the first people visitors meet when they arrive at Camp.

Commissary – This committee will coordinate all meals and waiters during Conclave weekend. The chairman and his adviser will choose an appropriate menu for the weekend, find cooks and cooking staff, and designate waiters to wait on tables.

Facilities – Responsible for overseeing the Service Corps, First Aid, Security, Parking, and Handicap Committees. The Facilities CVC will coordinate with the Lodge Service Chairman and Adviser in preparation and accomplishing of Service Days, making sure that Camp is ready for Conclave, and coordinating service projects needing to be accomplished during Conclave 2010.

Service Corps – This chairman of this committee will find a group of Brothers that will be responsible for setting up and tearing down of program areas throughout the Conclave weekend. This group will coordinate with the Communications Committee for the tearing down and clean up of Sunday.

First Aid – This committee will be responsible for the health and well being of all persons during Conclave 2010. This committee will be based in the Health Lodge.

Security – This committee will be responsible for the security and safety of all participants during Conclave 2010. They will work very closely with all Committees to ensure a smooth and safe Conclave.

Parking – This committee will be responsible for the parking of cars Friday (all staff, Monaken Lodge participants, and visitors). They will work with the Registration, Parking, and Security Committees to ensure that everyone who brings a car to Seven Mountains has a parking spot.

Handicap – This committee will be responsible for the transporting of disabled guests around Camp during Conclave. They will work with First Aid, Security, Parking, Registration, and Communications Committees throughout the weekend. This committee will assign Handicap parking passes to guests Friday.

Administrative – Responsible for overseeing the Registration, Communications, Trading Post, Grab Bag, and Program Booklet/Newsletter Committees. They will ensure that staff has easy access to communications that can be relayed to all participants.

Registration – This committee is responsible for the registering of all staff, Monaken Lodge Participants, and visitors during Conclave 2010. They will gather the names of all participants from each Lodge and use that to make name passes for all participants. They will coordinate with the Hospitality and Facilities Committees in sharing the information they receive.

Communications – This committee is responsible for the radio operations at Conclave 2010.  They will assign radios to the appropriate persons. They will be based in the Main Office.

Trading Post – This committee is responsible for the maintaining and selling of merchandise that is designated for sale by the Lodge and Section. This committee is also responsible for the soliciting of donations for the Section auction that will occur Saturday evening following crackerbarrel.

Grab Bag – This committee will solicit businesses in the Juniata Valley Council for donations for a grab bag for all participants.

Program Booklet / Newsletter – This committee will produce a program booklet for all participants (Lodge histories, Camp Map, and anything else by the Section or Lodge). They will also work with the Lodge that will produce the newsletter for Conclave to assist and help with anything that they need.

Program – Responsible for overseeing the Shows, Training, Vigil, Chapel, Museum, and Native American Competitions Committees.

Shows – This committee is responsible for the assisting the Lodge that will produce the Friday and Saturday evening shows at the campfire circle. This committee is also responsible for the production of the program during meals and the crackerbarrel.

Training – This committee is responsible for setting up of training areas, assuring that there is trainers for each cell, and taking attendance of each cell for the final report that the Lodge will prepare. They will also assist with the setting up and actively promoting the sports competitions that will take place Saturday afternoon.

Vigil – This committee is responsible for the Vigil Rededication Sunday morning and the Vigil Breakfast that will occur immediately following the Rededication.

Chapel – This committee is responsible for all Chapel services that will occur during Conclave. The committee will find appropriate leader who will conduct the non-denominational and Catholic services.

Museum – This committee is responsible for the organization of the Section Museum that will be open throughout the day on Saturday of Conclave. They will find appropriate Scouting items that showcases each Lodge in the Section and also showcases Scouting’s history.

Native American Competitions – This committee is responsible for the setting up of the Dance, Drum, and Ceremonies Competitions that will occur Saturday during Conclave. They will actively promote the competitions to all Brothers of the Section.
